The Colne Valley landscape is a 200ha Green Belt landscape designed and delivered.
The Colne Valley Project consisted of a group of individual sites that were combined into an expansive landscape of ecological parkland and meadows either side of the River Colne to the west of Heathrow airport. The works included new country parkland and agricultural land restoration.
HED, as Task Team Leader, was responsible for the delivery of the £1.5m Colne Valley Project and also team leader for the £5m Grassland Translocation Project.
The Grassland Translocation Project was an important enabling works package translocating 2.5ha of species rich meadow from beneath the M25 Spur Road. The ecological Site of Metropolitan Interest was moved turf by turf to an adjacent prepared site. HED negotiated approvals with the Local Planning Authority and the Environment Agency and project managed the detailed design and the project delivery.
