John Hyland Dip LA FLI, Director John's experience includes award winning urban design in London's Docklands, office parks such as Leeds City Office Park, and maritime projects such as Gunwharf in Portsmouth, and the Istanbul Cultural Centre in Turkey, sports stadia and environmental assessment. Current work includes major urban centre schemes at Festival Place Basingstoke, Spinningfields Manchester, Forthquarter Edinburgh, St Davids Centre Cardiff and Spencer Dock in Dublin's Docklands. His experience covers commercial and leisure development throughout Europe, the Mediterranean and the Middle East, including the diplomatic quarter of a royal park in Riyadh. He is a trustee of the Landscape Design Trust and is committed to innovation and pursuit of excellence in landscape design. Simon Edgar BA (Hons) M Phil LD FLI, Director Simon joined John at Brian Clouston and Partners in 1985 having gained a postgraduate degree in Landscape Design. Simon became an Associate of the company in 1989 before leaving to form Hyland Edgar Driver. With a working knowledge of French and German, Simons experience covers Europe, the Mediterranean and the Middle East. Projects include award winning business parks in the 80s and more recently 3Com Europe, Microsoft and BP Aberdeen, educational campuses and public parks, and hotels and resorts in the UK and Mediterranean including the famous Belfry and Marriott Resort La Sella in Spain. He also advised Foster and Partners on the Valencia Congress Centre,. He is responsible for the Framework Agreement with BAA working primarily at Heathrow Airport with projects including the dramatic new entrance, the airport wide Landscape Strategy and Terminal 5. He also manages the HED partnership agreement with Hampshire County Council. Chris Driver Dip LA MSc (Ecology) MLI, Consultant Chris graduated in Landscape Architecture in 1977 and worked for the Central Lancashire New Town Development Corporation before joining Brian Clouston and Partners in 1982. He left in 1992 to form Hyland Edgar Driver with John and Simon. Chris has considerable implementation and project management experience of major public and private projects world-wide and spent three years in the Sultanate of Oman designing and supervising the landscape of Sultan Qaboos University. His UK experience covers public open space, and the residential, commercial and leisure sectors. With a Masters Degree in Ecology he is particularly interested in conservation issues and the positive integration of development and environment. Chris opened the Cheshire office of Hyland Edgar Driver in1999. The office has a growing portfolio of projects in the urban context, including Timber Wharf, the Magna project in Rotherham and most recently Spinningfields in Manchester.
