Anantara Hotel Opens and HED Appointed on Alilah Salalah in Oman
Landscape for Luxury Hotels
Following successful opening of Anantara Jabal Al Akhdar, Anantara’s first luxury hotel in Oman, HED has been appointed as landscape architects on Alilah Salalah in the south of the country working with Arab Engineering Bureau out of Doha.
Located at an elevation of almost 2000m above sea level the Anantara Jabal Al Akhdar Resort Hotel & Spa is a 6.6Ha high-end resort located within the unique setting of the Al Jabal Al Akhdar (The Green Mountain), which forms part of the Al Hajar mountain range of Oman.
The setting of the hotel seeks to address a careful balance between locally indigenous vegetation and more verdant planting around the core hotel spaces. The landscape becomes one of transition from the rock outcrops at the cliff edge toward the more intensive plantations around the garden villas and restaurant dining terraces. This approach reduces water consumption and allows the guest to experience the unique natural landscape of rock between the hotel facilities and accommodation blocks.
The Hotel was recently featured in the popular BBC show Top Gear.
