Ashburton Court, Winchester

The refurbishment of Ashburton Court, one of Hampshire County Council’s flagship headquarters office buildings in Winchester, aimed to provide flexible and efficient modern offices from a building that had reached the end of its useful life and required significant and urgent investment.

The project, managed by HCC Property Services, resulted in an efficient and inspiring office environment, specifically designed to support flexible ways of working and accommodate more staff in the same space. It has one of the lowest carbon footprints for an office building in the country.
As a result of the refurbishment and re-organization of the site three new podium level courtyards were created providing usable space for the building occupants and visitors.

Environmental conditions were of prime consideration for the end users with features incorporated in the landscape to improve the microclimate surrounding the seven storey building.
