Fleming Way Bus Interchange, Swindon

A major project in the heart of Swindon, this Council-led upgrade and transformation of Fleming Way turns a 4 lane road into a refreshing green gateway for the town centre. The landscape enhances connectivity between the train station and town centre, improving legibility within the public realm.

The new green spaces include cycle lane facilities, bus shelters, feature lighting and seating, and substantial rain gardens and planting beds with perennials and new trees supporting local wildlife and providing seasonal interest.

With more than 180 trees and 23,000 shrubs and perennials, the scheme offers a dramatic softening of the public realm and also an important contribution to Swindon's targets of 30% tree cover as part of the Great Western Community Forest.
