ForthQuarter, Granton, Edinburgh

Sited on a former gasworks, ForthQuarter is a major extension of Edinburgh north to the Firth of Forth. Focused on a major new urban plaza and linear park, the new quarter provides extensive, high-density residential, commercial and educational uses.

The landscape infrastructure provides a sustainable urban drainage system within the park generating the surrounding landscape and physically linking the development to the estuary as part of the wider Waterfront Edinburgh masterplan.

The SUD's scheme redirects the existing culverted watercourse through the park to create the wetland habitat utilising grass swales, wet grassland detention basins, constructed wetlands and stormwater disposal systems. Large scale existing landscape elements are sensitively integrated into the design.
