New Monks Park is to be opened to the public on the 1st July 2024.
It will be a new 28 Hectare Country Park situated in Sussex at the foot of the South Downs National Park on the Shoreham-by-Sea/Lancing border.
The park is designed around the existing waterways and is to be a haven for wildlife. Species already inhabiting the site range from Buzzards and Herons to Eels.
As well as providing eels with an important spawning site with a clear route back into the River Adur, the waterways also perform an important role for local flood alleviation and for removing sediment and pollution prior to discharge into the River Adur (SSSI).
The biodiversity strategy provides interventions such as hibernacula for reptiles and amphibians, as well as a host of different wildflower mixes to provide food for pollinators, and subsequently foraging and hunting grounds for their predators!
We eagerly anticipate the opening and maturation of the park over time, along with our clients Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club, our contractors Acre Landscapes Limited, tree suppliers Hillier Nurseries Ltd, and civil engineers Adenstar Construction Group Ltd.
