New Bailey, Salford, Greater Manchester

At the city centre, New Bailey is a 23ha site that is one of a number of zones that make up the wider Salford Regeneration Strategy, now helping to bridge the gap between Manchester and Salford whilst owning its own character and personality.

HED was appointed to join the masterplan team in 2013, coordinating the public realm of streets and squares for the site that will maximise frontage value and create vibrant active space day and night.

HED are now responsible for delivery of the public realm related to One and Two New Bailey and to Riverside House, and have designed, during the phased construction of the masterplan, a series of temporary open spaces created to facilitate flexible meanwhile uses and create a successful venue for informal lunch, pop-up retail, art installations, music and more.
